Chinese Safety Science(referred to as CSSJ ) (hereinafter referred to as the Journal) was founded on January 20,1991. It is an academic journal supervised by the China Association for Science and Technology and sponsored by the China Occupational Safety and Health Association (formerly the China Labor Protection Science and Technology Society), with approval from national publishing authorities.
Under the care of senior scientists such as Yan Jici, Qian Sanqiang, Qian Xuesen, and Pei Lisheng, etc., and the concern and support of the China Association for Science and Technology, the State Council's Work Safety Committee, the former Ministry of Labor, the former Ministry of Chemical Industry, the Ministry of Transport, the National Health Commission, the Ministry of Emergency Management, as well as major enterprises like China Ordnance Industries Group Corporation, China National Nuclear Corporation, People's Insurance Company of China, and China Automotive Industry Corporation, the Journal has received significant attention and strong support from experts and scholars in the field of safety science and technology both domestically and internationally, as well as from international occupational safety and health institutions, leading to a surge in contributions.
As a high-level academic journal in the field of safety science and engineering (first-level discipline), the Journal has served as an important platform for academic exchanges at home and abroad. Since its inception more than 30 years ago. It prioritizes the quality of its articles and consistently strives for improvement.
The Journal has established a high-level academic communication platform in the fields of production safety, emergency management, public safety, disaster prevention and mitigation, and occupational health, and published many innovative and practically valuable research results. Over the years, the academic influence of the Journal has continued to rise. According to data from China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), the total number of downloads and citations of the Journal's articles have been increasing annually, reflecting its widespread attention and high recognition in the academic community. In various core journal evaluation systems, the Journal won a number of good results: it has been included in the 'Directory of Chinese Science and Technology Core Journals' since March 2004; in August 2008, it was included in the CAS database and the 'Cambridge Scientific Abstracts: Materials Information' (CSA); in 2008, it was listed in the 'Directory of Chinese Core Journals'; in 2011, it was included in the core library of the China Science Citation Database (CSCD); in 2019, it was selected for the first phase of the China Science and Technology Journal Excellence Action Plan (2019-2024), jointly implemented by the China Association for Science and Technology, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Finance, the National Press and Publication Administration, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Since being selected for the Q2 zone in the World Journal Impact Index (WJCI) report (2020 Science Edition) in 2021, it has consistently been listed in the Q2 zone of the World Journal Impact Index (WJCI) report for each year. In 2021, it was listed in the T1 category of high-quality science and technology journals in the field of safety science. In 2022, it was officially included in the Dutch Scopus. In 2023, it won the '6th China Elite Science and Technology Journal' award. In 2024, it was once again listed in the T1 category of high-quality science and technology journals in the field of safety science and was also included in the second phase of the China Science and Technology Journal Excellence Action Plan (2024-2028). In April 2025, the Journal was indexed in the EI database.
According to the data published in November 2024 in the Annual Report on the Impact Factor of Chinese Academic Journals (Natural Science and Engineering Technology 2024 Edition), the discipline influence index (CI) of the Journal was 1330.207, and the composite impact factor of the journal was 2.947, ranking first in both disciplines of "Safety Science and Technology".
With the strong support of readers, authors and editors, the Journal will continue to consolidate its foundation, innovate constantly, and build an authoritative communication platform for academic research and engineering applications of safety science and occupational heath!
