Abstract: In order to prevent domino effect triggered by fire in tank areas of petrochemical industry,an HCTPN based model was built for analyzing emergency actions responding to tank fires. The states of emergency response were represented by places, emergency actions by transitions, and changes of emergency states by flow of tokens in the net. Then, five different time patterns time serial gate, time output AND gate, time input AND gate, time output OR gate and time input OR gate, were proposed to analyze the time performance of the model. Finally,a tank fire was taken as an example, and the emergency response times were analyzed by using by the CPN Tools. The probabilities of domino effects were evaluated through the simulation analysis of the emergency response times. Two scenarios were discussed to analyze the impact of collaboration of emergency actions on fire escalation. The results show that the parallel mode of emergency actions is more time-saving and can prevent domino effect better than the serial mode, and that the model can be used to effectively analyze the time performance of emergency actions.
