Abstract: In order to deeply explore the characteristics of miners' mind wandering, underground line miners were selected to participate in two mind wandering experiments of the resting and task states. In experiment 1, resting state thought sampling was selected, and questionnaire was conducted to investigate characteristics of miners' resting state mind wandering. In experiment 2, SART method was adopted to investigate characteristics of miners' task states mind wandering. The results show that in experiment 1, miners' mind wandering with meta-awareness is more often than mind wandering without meta-awareness, the incentive is given priority to internal ideas and the contents are mostly scenes, and mind wandering is more time to the past, and mostly irrelevant to working assignment but relevant to recent personal life experience, organization management and working environment, and that in experiment 2, there is no statistically significant difference between complicated task and simple task, and the frequency of mind wandering without meta-awareness during a complicated task is significantly greater than that during a simple task.
