Abstract: Besides the heat, the death-cause in building fire is mostly due to the tox ic ity of the fire smoke. In this paper, several methods of toxicity assessment are emphatically introduced, for which comparisons are made. Based on the descripti on of these methods, the developing trends for future research of the toxicity o f fire smoke are demonstrated.
