Abstract:

To tackle the problems of excessive auxiliary equipment, complicated operation, and low efficiency during shunting and depot transfer of SS4B electric locomotives for maintenance, an on-board dedicated power supply system for electric locomotive shunting and depot transfer was developed. A locomotive emergency power supply control system based on DSP TMS320F28335 chip was designed. The main circuit of the system adopted SiC power devices to construct the charging unit and two-stage DC/DC chopper unit, which was integrated with a supercapacitor energy storage device. The high-speed DSP controller generated pulse width modulation (PWM) waveforms to realize driving and control of all power devices in the whole system. The results show that the coordinated operation of the two-stage DC/DC chopper module and supercapacitor energy storage unit can provide continuously adjustable DC output voltage ranging from 70 V to 130 V, and the conversion efficiency of the entire power conversion unit exceeds 93%. Such output performance can steadily drive the locomotive traction motors to operate at low speeds. The charging module features wide catenary voltage adaptability and supports segmented fast charging with constant current and constant voltage to meet the emergency energy storage demands of locomotives. Vehicle-mounted tests verify that the design target of self-propelled shunting and depot transfer with locomotive emergency power supply under catenary-free conditions can be fully achieved.
