Abstract: In order to investigate the influence of water injection on destruction of coal seam, uniaxial compression experiments were carried out on coal samples.Effects of water content on the energy consumption and destruction form of prefabricated cracks in coal samples were studied. The test result indicates that there is a negative exponential correlation between both the uniaxial compressive strength and elastic modulus and the water content,It is also found that the relationships between the total energy accumulation, stored elastic energy, and dissipated energy of destruction of coal sample and the water content take on the form of decreasing quadratic parabola function, that there is a negative correlation between both the axial stress and peak stress required initiate crack during prefabrication and the peak stress and the water content, and that the destruction form of the sample is a function of the water content.
