Hydropower engineering safety accident occurrence mechanism and management strategies

Abstract: To prevent the safety accidents during the construction period of hydropower project, the accident occurrence mechanism and management strategies were studied. The characteristics of hidden dangers and safety accidents in hydropower projects in China were analyzed by means of data statistics, and the internal relations between the hidden danger and safety accident were illustrated, as well as the evolvement process and mechanism from the hidden danger to the safety accident. Based on the reality of the site safety control of hydropower projects in China, a new comprehensive risk control system and related specific measures were proposed for hydropower projects. The study results show that by using the flattening management method of hidden danger to control safety accidents when they make a start, the accident rate on the hydropower construction site can be reduced considerably, and the formation of the safety culture in the enterprise can be promoted effectively.
