Discussion of application of safety economics in railway operation and production

Abstract

Abstract: In order to enhance the operability of railway safety investment and secure the lifeline of railway safety, the application of safety economics in the railway transportation and production was discussed in this paper. By introducing the concept of railway safety operation and the related functions of safety economics, the methods of evaluating the overall performance of safety system were discussed. The quantification of the railway accident losses, the calculation of the safety investment benefits and safety operation costs, and the decisions made by the results of safety economics were discussed. The abstract concepts and mathematical formulas of safety economics were materialized to facilitate the railway enterprises to put the safety economics into the railway transportation and production andimprove the construction of transportation safety production system.Theresults show that if the safety production system of railway can be constructed according to the theory of safety economics, the economic benefits of transportation production of railway enterprises can be improved, and the rationality of investment in railway operation safety can be maximized.
