High plateau airport pool fire combustion characteristic research

Abstract: To analyze the high plateau airport pool fire combustion characteristics affected by the low air pressure, such as flame temperature, mass burning rate and radiation flux, experiments were conducted in the Kangding High Platea Airport Laboratory with by using an ISO9705 combustion system. Heat release rate, burning rate and flame temperature field distribution and flame radiation heat flux were recorded and analyzed. The relationship between oil pool size and mass burning rate was deduced, and it was found that the mass burning varies linearly with oil pool size. The flame temperature was found that the classical theory cannot correctly predict the airport plume temperature rise for the influence of low pressure and low oxygen concentration. By the curve fitting method, the relationship between the oil pool size and the heat radiation flux was also obtained.
