Analysis and optimization of information coding for automobile dashboard based on human factors engineering

Abstract: To study the effects of interactive designs for different panels on driving efficiency and accuracy,simulation experiments were carried out.For carrying out the experiments,35 experimental stimulus materials composed of four types of common layout and two types of common colors were obtained.And an Adobe Illustrator was used in simplified processing.30 testees were tested for a given task.Tobii X2-30 was used to get the data on the duration in the task,task search time and the correct rate.SPSS V21.0 was used to analyze the difference in the data.Suggestions on dashboard design were proposed from four aspects: the position of dial,the design of color matching,the rate of misreading and the speed of reading.Results show that the setting of the speedometer in the middle position has a significant impact on the reading of tachometer and water temperature meter,and that complex color arrangement affects driver's reading efficiency.
