Application test of LTE-M in PIS for urban rail transit system

Abstract: In order to improve the safety protection ability of the PIS based on Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) LTE-M which can provide stable transmission rate was applied as the main method of PIS train ground communications to ensure the quality of video transmission.Thetransmission quality of LTE-M carrying PIS services was evaluated from the perspective ofbasic transmission performance, carrying indexes of simulated services and video transmission effect, and the dynamic test was carried out in Beijing Subway Line 5.The results show that the LTE-M technology with the 5MHz configuration can basically meet the needs of PIS service, that the handoff performance needs to be improved when wireless free wave is taken as the transmission medium, and that it is recommended to use leaky cable to improve the coverage quality of LTE-M and achieve better vehicle-to-ground communication transmission performance.
