Analysis and application of railway perimeter safety technology

Abstract: In order to avoid accidents caused by railway perimeter risk and ensure the safety of railway transportation, the main current technologies of perimeter safety system with the existing physical protection conditions and personnel organization in the railway perimeter were studied and the infrared detection, electronic fence, fiber vibration, video monitor and other technical means were analyzed. Their advantages and disadvantages are compared with each other and the technical characteristics are analyzed. According to different safety requirements and protection demands in different circumstances, such as railway station platform, large tunnel, high-speed railway roadbed section, railroad-overpass and key facilities along the rail lines, a number of suggestions wereproposed. Based on the principle of applicability and reliability of system engineering theory, some application plans about perimeter safety system were put forward, which is suitable for practice of railway. The results show that the perimeter safety system is feasible, efficient and abundant in functions.
