Abstract: With the rapid development of China′s high-speed railway technology, the locomotive drivers, taking the most critical position, are facing a growing job stress brought about by occupational stress, hence bringing driving safety risks. The present study examined the status of occupational stress and the relationship between occupational stress and safety performance among 870 locomotive drivers. The results show that the occupational role of locomotive drivers is significantly higher than the male norm, while the personal resources are lower than male norm. The psychological stress response and the somatic stress response are significant negative correlation with safety compliance performance respectively. Work stress response, psychological stress response and somatic stress response are significant negative correlation with work dedication in safety participation performance. The relationship between interpersonal stress response and safety performance is not significant.
